Motor Graders

Product Description

Graders, also known as “road graders” and “motor graders,” or construction machines featuring long blades to create flat surfaces, such as necessary for road construction and to periodically restore or maintain surfaces of unpaved roads. Most models used in the U.S. have three axles with a hydraulically actuated blade mounted crosswise midway between the front axles and two rear axles.

The name “grader” comes from the machine’s most common use, fine-finishing native soil surfaces to grade, creating an ideal bed upon which to lay the base course of a paving project.

The earliest version of today’s modern grader was pulled by draft animals. Graders were motorized beginning in the 1920s, earning them the name “motor graders.”
